4 Ways to Beat the Cold on an ATV Trail Ride

Mar. 1 2023 Seasonal By Arizona Honda

Low temperatures don't need to get in the way of your four-wheeler fun! Simply use the below tactics to stay warm even when it's cold out.

1.  Dress for the Occasion

The key to staying warm in the cold is all about having the right clothing. Invest in multiple layers of synthetic and wool fabrics, as these will keep you warm without adding too much bulk or extra weight. Consider investing in a heavy-duty jacket and pants, which will provide additional warmth on especially frigid days.

2. Bring Hot Drinks

A thermos of hot coffee, tea, or cocoa can work wonders on an ATV trail ride. Not only will it warm you up, but a few sips of your favorite hot beverage can also help wake you up and get in the right mindset for a full day of fun!

3. Use Hand Warmers

Small, disposable hand warmers can be easily stored in a pocket and provide hours of extra warmth. Just pop them open and place them inside your gloves to keep your hands warm with minimal hassle.

4. Plan for a Mishap

Colder weather can lead to increased chance of an issue. Maybe the trail had some snow that melted and turned into mud...which causes your ATV to get stuck. Maybe the temperatures affect your quad engine and you encounter mechanical issues. Facing a mishap is much harder when you're really cold! Be sure to plan for an emergency by bringing along the needed supplies. The faster you can fix the problem, the less time you'll be standing in the cold!
